Privacy Policy

BasketPlayer (basketplayer.com) is a basketball player database covering professional leagues worldwide. If you have any questions about this policy, please contact us at contact (at) basketplayer.com.

No account is required to browse BasketPlayer. An optional free account lets you follow players and teams. We collect:

• Usage data — pages visited, search queries, and time spent on the site, collected through Vercel Analytics (no cookies) and, only if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics.
• Technical data — browser type, device type, and approximate location (country/city level) via server logs.
• Account data — if you create an account: your email address, your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google, and the players and teams you follow. We use this only to sign you in and show your feed. We never send marketing emails without your separate consent.
• Contact data — if you email us directly, we store your email address and message only to respond to you.

We do not use advertising pixels or fingerprinting, and we never sell data to third parties.

If you choose “Continue with Google” to create or sign in to a BasketPlayer account, Google shares the following information with us, and only with your permission: your name, your email address and your profile picture (the standard “openid”, “email” and “profile” permissions). We do not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Contacts, Calendar or any other Google data.

• How we use it: only to create your account, sign you in, and show which account is signed in. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose.
• Sharing: we do not sell, rent or share Google user data with anyone. It is stored by our sign-in provider, Supabase, on our behalf.
• Storage and protection: the data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored in Supabase’s EU data centre (Frankfurt), with access restricted to the site’s operator.
• Retention and deletion: we keep it only while you have an account. You can delete your account at any time from the Account page, which removes your Google user data immediately, or ask us to delete it by email. You can also revoke BasketPlayer’s access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

BasketPlayer’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

All player statistics, profile information, and career data displayed on BasketPlayer are sourced from publicly available sports databases and official league sources. We do not store private information about athletes beyond what is already in the public domain (name, nationality, career statistics, team affiliations).

We use only essential storage required for the site to function: if you sign in, your browser keeps a sign-in token in local storage so you stay signed in. With your consent, we also use Google Analytics, which sets analytics cookies to count visits and see which pages are popular. Google Analytics only loads after you click “Accept” in the cookie banner; if you click “Reject” or ignore it, no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. Our other statistics tool, Vercel Analytics, uses no cookies. We do not use advertising cookies.

BasketPlayer is hosted on the following third-party infrastructure:

• Vercel — web hosting and edge network
• Supabase — database hosting and account sign-in (EU, Frankfurt)
• Google — only if you choose “Continue with Google” to sign in
• Cloudflare — DNS and CDN
• Google Analytics — anonymous visit statistics
• Resend — sends sign-in emails (EU, Ireland)

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We do not share personally identifiable information with them beyond what is technically necessary to operate the site.

Anonymous usage logs are retained for up to 90 days. If you contact us by email, we retain your correspondence for as long as needed to resolve your request, and delete it afterwards. Account data is kept until you delete your account, which you can do at any time from the Account page; this removes your email and follows immediately.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete any personal information we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at contact (at) basketplayer.com.

We may update this policy from time to time. Any significant changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
